Kenya: Explosion hits Mombassa night club days after U.S warning
Mombasa (RBC) At least three people were killed after a bomb explosion hit a night club in the Kenya’s coastal town of Mombasa on Sunday night two days after the U.S embassy issued a warning of imminent threat of attacks in the town, RBC Radio reports.
Local media reported eight others were seriously wounded in the explosion as the police begun to investigate the nature of the explosion. Initial reports claim that the blast was a bomb detonated inside the club.
Three explosions were reportedly heard at the club where a crowd had gathered to watch the Euro 2012.
The blast occurred two days after the U.S embassy in Kenya warned of its citizens to travel to Mombasa because of what the embassy described as imminent threat of attacks but local police rebuffed the allegations.
Several blasts and assassinations had been constant in Kenya since when it sent its troops into Somalia last year.
