BREAKING NEWS: Puntland deputy police chief gunned down in Garowe
Garowe (RBC) Unidentified gunmen have assassinated the deputy chief of police of the Somalia’s semi-autonomous region of Puntland Col. Abdullahi Salah Nadalo in Garowe town on Monday evening, RBC Radio reports.
Col. Nadallo, 54 was killed near Bulshale hotel at the city centre of Garowe town, the region’s main base, eye witnesses told RBC Radio in anonymity condition because of the security.
Heavy armed police forces and the presidential guards reached the area and began searching for the murders but the perpetrators have escaped from crime scene, the sources said.
Col. Nadallo has been a vital person for the anti pirate operations of the Puntland police forces and was the second commanding officer.
He is the second government official killed in Puntland in less than 48 hours.
Officials of Puntland’s ministry of security declined to comment on the killing this evening while contacted by RBC Radio.
