Somalia: Journalist Dies in a car accident in Northeastern Somalia

Garowe (RBC) The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) mourns for the loss of  an online journalist who died in serious car accident in Puntland on Friday afternoon 20 July 2012 around 5:00pm local time.

The Journalist, Mohamed Ali Elmi Iid, – an editor of taleex.net website died, Friday afternoon 20 July 2012 in an accident after their four-wheel drive Landcruser from Galkayo town collided with a  highly  lorry from Garowe near  Kalabayr village 60 Km South of Garowe.

Three other people seriously injured in the accident. Among the wounded are a famous Somali singer Sado Ali Warsame, who today flew fromNairobifor Puntlamd, her driver and Jama Mohamed Noor, better known as Jeelle.  The body of the dead and the wounded were brought to the general hospital in Garowe. The wounded Jama Mohamed Noor (Jeelle) is a Puntland’s vice president’s press secretary and former Daljir radio journalist and is now in comma’ sate.

The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) sends sympathies and condolences to the families and friends of late Mohamed.

“We offer our condolences to the family of the bereaved and  ask Allah to reward him paradise in the hereafter life.” Mohamed Ibrahim, NUSOJ Secretary General said, “We continue to pray for the quick recovery of the wounded colleague.”

Late Mohamed 33 years old has been based inNairobifor the past few years as website editor before he accompanied the singer in her trip to Puntland on Friday.

He left a wife and two children behind, a daughter and a son.
