SOMALIA: NUSOJ and Local Journalists Mourn the Death of Veteran Journalist, Mr Sharma’arke

Mogadishu (RBC) On Thursday July 5th, the National Union of Somali Journalists NUSOJ with local journalists in Mogadishu mourn for the death of Abdulkadir Jiirow Shama’arke, a great and veteran journalist who died for extreme diarrhea in the Medina hospital on midnight of Wednesday July 4th and was laid to rest in Medina graveyards of Wadajir district in Mogadishu.
Mr Sharma’arke, long time NUSOJ member, was born in Buuloburde town, Hiiraan region in 1955. He joined SONNA (Somali National News Agency) in 1988, then to Radio Mogadishu.
In 2009 he was appointed the director of Radio Horn Afrik, which a year later was taken over by Al Shabaab.
Deceased Mr Shama’arke was now working as deputy director at Radio Mustqabal. He has left a wife and 10 children.

The National Union of Somali Journalists and local journalists sent heartfelt condolences for the family, relatives and the whole colleagues for the loss of Mr Sharma’arke.
