SOMALIA: New Parliament endorses presidential election commission
Mogadishu (RBC) The new Somali parliamentarians have today endorsed the presidential election committee which consists of 16 MPs those will manage the presidential election due to held in Mogadishu in the coming days, RBC Radio reports.
The parliament has endorsed the election committee in today’s meeting which was chaired by the newly elected speaker Prof. Mohamed Osman Jawari as the two deputies also attended.
The speaker first announced the 15 members of the election committee and later appointed the chairperson of the committee as the whole parliament voted in favor for them.
The names of the presidential electoral commission are as follows:
1. Gen Muse Hassan Abdulle (Chairperson)
2. Khadija Mohamed Diriye.
3. Mohamed Omar mohamud.
4. Ibrahim Salah Deifula.
5. Ahmed Osman Ibrahim.
6. Sadiya Areys Isse.
7. Mohammed Sheikh Aden Hiralle.
8. Dahir Amin Jesow
9. Osman Mohamed Abdi Dallo.
10. Maryan Arif Kassim.
11. Ahmed Aden Abdirahman.
12. Saynab Mohammed Amir.
13. Ahmed Aden Ahmed.
14. Osman Libah Ibrahim.
15. Aweys Abdullahi Ibrahim.
16. Mumino Sheikh Omar.
According to the chairperson, the electoral commission will announce the official date of the presidential election as well as the commission will set conditions for any candidate willing to run for the presidential post.
On his side, the newly elected speaker Prof Mohammed Osman Jawari congratulated the commission and called for hard work in the coming days.
