Mogadishu (RBC) Somalia prime minister Abdiweli Mohamed Ali “Gaas” has extremely praised the 825 members of the country’s constituent assembly who on Wednesday passed the new draft constitution as he promised that it will allow better chance of live to whole Somalis, RBC Radio reports.

“This is a historic day, after twenty years of wars we have now slammed the door of the poverty and conflicts by adopting first democratic constitution in our country.” the prime minister told reporters in a press briefing in Mogadishu on Wednesday.

“If Somalia is known as the nation of rampant piracy, the nation of famines and droughts, the nation of weak institutions we are now back will have strong government which is not transitional government.” Mr Ali added.

Mr Ali called the international community to stand for assisting the country’s rebuilding as the transition period to end in 2oth of this month when the first election inside the country is due to hold in Mogadishu.

“By August 20, everything about the transition should be at the end, we are moving from a stage of lower degree to a stage of higher degree.” Mr Ali said.

Meanwhile the constitution minister of Somalia Abdirahman Hosh Jibril has on Thursday announced that the constituent assembly was finished and selecting members of Somalia new legislators has begun to form new parliament before the August 20.
