Somalia: Al Shabab withdraws and abandons Jawhar town

Jowhar (RBC) reports we are getting from jowhar town, the regional capital city of middle shabelle region say that Al-shabab Militants have withdrawn its forces from the town on Saturday morning (today) as residents in the town confirmed to RBC Radio.

Al-shabab has been ruling the town for the past few years and it is still unclear the reason and the cause they pulled out its troops from the town but residents in the town say they pulled out because of the battle for kismayo and the Somali government forces that are approaching to the town.

The AMISON forces and government troops are approaching to the town and currently they are in Qalimo district just few kilometers to Jowhar city.

Tension is high in Jowhar and Residents in the town are this morning in tense concerning about what would be next in the coming hours.

Jowhar is one of main Al-shabab stronghold territories after Kismayo since the allied forces seized many strategic places including Marka and Mogadishu from the group.

Jowhar is a town that is good at, for farming and agriculture comparing to other regional cities. It has an airport in the northern part of the town. It lies 90 km (50m) to the capital Mogadishu.
