SOMALIA: Double suicide bombers attack new Somali president’s hotel in Mogadishu

Mogadishu (RBC) At least five people were killed today after two suicide bombers blew out themselves outside Jasira hotel where the newly elected Somali president, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is residing, RBC Radio reports.
The first suicide bomber blew himself just few metres out of the hotel gate as the second suicide bomber, reportedly driving a car exploded in front of the gate of the hotel.
The two bomber were killed as three president’s body guards- including one AMISOM soldier were also killed in the scene.
RBC Radio correspondent who was inside the hotel says, the explosions occurred just as the new president was meeting with different Somali and international committee officials in his hotel. Officials from African Union mission in Somalia were also attending the meeting.
A third explosion was also foiled, security officials told RBC Radio.
The newly elected Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud was residing in this hotel since he won the election on Monday. His aides told RBC Radio that he will moving to the presidential compound (Villa Somalia) soon next week after the departure of former president, Sharif Sheikh Ahmed.
