Somalia: Parliament speaker Prof Mohamed Osman Jawari announces the inauguration day for the newly-elected president
Mogadishu (RBC) The speaker of Somalia parliament Prof. Mohamed Osman Jawari announced on Wednesday the inauguration day of the newly elected President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud RBC Reports.
The speaker who held a press conference in Mogadishu late Wednesday announced that the presidential inauguration ceremony will be held on Sunday September 16th.
And that on the same day the new president will confiscate and take over office from former president Sheikh sharif sheikh Ahmed,
The speaker accentuated that there would be a democratic transition in Somalia for the first time in decades and that the former president sheikh sharif sheikh Ahmed will hand over the office to the newly-elected president Hassan sheikh Mohamud in a good will.
On the other hand, there has been series of suicide attacks in Mogadishu targeting the hotel where the newly elected president accommodates.
Three suicide bombers blew themselves out side the hotel as the security forces immediately responded with gun fires and stopped an attempted assassination on the new president.
Three soldiers were reported to have died in the incident as RBC reporter confirms who was in side the hotel at the time of the attack.
Al-shabab rebels claimed the responsibility of the attack.
