Somalia: Speaker of Somalia Parliament says Presidential Election Will be Free and Fair
Mogadishu (RBC) Somalia Parliamentarian speaker Prof. Mohamed sheikh Osman Jawari talked about late today Friday the presidential election, which is set to be held on 10th September. RBC Radio reports.
The speaker mentioned that the election for the presidency will be free and transparent and that the members of parliament won’t differentiate the candidates for an ethnic related issues but instead they will endorse his/her activities and policy and elect he who deserves to preside the country at this stage of violence, devastation, depravity and anarchism.
The speaker also mentioned that there are moderate electoral commission and other members including the eldest man in the parliament who will monitor and observe the election, during the presidential election process.
‘’ we are urging and telling the Somali communities in general that the members of parliament won’t support any candidate by ethnic and instead they will elect any one who they see will lead the country fairly’’ said the parliament speaker Prof. Jawari.
The speaker accentuated that the presidential election will be free from ethnical grouping and that the members of parliament will not avenge to any one.
There are almost 25 candidates running for the country’s presidency including outgoing Somali President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, Prime Minister Abdiweli Mohamed Ali, the outgoing Somali parliament speaker Sharif Hassan Sheikh Adan, and a former Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmajo.
The election for presidency will be held on 10th this month which is few days to go.
