Somalia: Heavy fighting erupts in Hobyo district of Mudug region
Mogadishu (RBC) Deadly clashes erupted in hobyo district of Mudug region on Thursday morning between the two semi-autonomous states of Galmudug and Hibin-Heeb forces in the central regions of Somalia. Officials say.
The clashes came after delegations led by the president of Gal-mudug state Abdi Awale Kabdid reached hobyo district on Wednesday.
Mohamed Omar Hagafe, the speaker of Hibin-Heeb administration told RBC that the fighting has left a lot of casualties as he declined to explain the scale of the casualties.
Gal-Mudug officials still did not comment on Thursday’s (today) clashes and their presence in Hobyo district of Mudug region, Somalia.
Reports say that GalMudug state officials want to reopen the Hobyo port while Hibin-Heeb administration opposes and objects their proposal.
It is unclear the real number of casualties of today fighting as both sides could not reach for comments.
