Somalia: Police in Mogadishu arrest about 300 suspected Al-shabab members
Mogadishu (RBC) More than 300 people were arrested on Wednesday in Mogadishu on suspicion of being Al-shabab members following an operation carried out by the police on Wednesday morning,
The arrested people are about 360 as officials told raxanreeb and are in police custody for further investigation and are believed to be members of the ousted Al-shabab militias.
Meanwhile the police discovered 30 hand grenades, about five AK47 rifles and much ammunition which the detained people were carrying.
Mohamed Yusuf Osman the spokesman for the Banadir region told Raxanreeb that all the detained individuals are members of Al-shabab as he mentioned.
The spokes man also told that they will investigate these men and charge those they find guilty and release the rest.
He underlined that they will maintain the crackdown in order to stable the capital and eradicate all Al-shabab members and supporters.
Eventually the spokesman asked the residents in Mogadishu to help them secure the capital by providing information and informing any one they suspect to the nearest police station.
