SOMALIA: President Hassan Sheikh to visit Beledweyne, Garowe towns
Mogadishu (RBC) The new president of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is arranging today on Monday his first visit outside Mogadishu, presidential Officials told RBC Radio on Sunday evening.
The officials say that the president will first land at Beledweyne town, where massive flash floods kill more than 10 citizens and forced hundreds of residents to flee from their homes while the president’s second tour will be towards Garowe, the capital of the semi-autonomous region of Puntland.
“President Hassan will his first leg travel to Beledweyne town of central Somalia region and the next step will be to Garowe, the provincial capital of Puntland” said a senior presidential official who spoke with RBC Radio in anonymity condition because he was not authorized to speak to the media.
The president’s Monday tour will be the first travel the new man capital goes outside the capital since September 10th when he was officially sworn to the office and the visit comes amid tough consultations to appoint the country’s new prime minister.
“Garowe visit will be more essential as the president who is in his 30 days to declare the new prime minister, will discuss some main points with the officials of Puntland” the source added.
News sources obtained by RBC Radio claim that the new prime minister will be selected from Puntland region to set the balance of the country’s clan power sharing formula called 4.5 which always mentions that the three government principles should come from three different major clans.
