The Somaliland Business Fund has extended the deadline for Round 1 application grants to 31 October 2012.

This came in wake of an article published in Raxanreeb on inadequacies in the criteria and translation of the fund literature into Somali. The SBF published an upadate on its page in Somali.

“Do you have a problem with [ filling out ] the application form? If you cannot write in English well or if you don’t have a computer, please phone us on 485-0660,” read the note in Somali on SBF website.

This is in response to a question raised by a raxanreeb.com contributor on what help non-English-speaking female horticultural sellers can get to be able fill out forms. Other issues raised in the raxanreeb.com article included mistranslation and inclusion of inaccurate information in the target language leaflets.

Britain and Italy were the two colonial proews before Somalia born as Nation in 1960s. Italia tried to come back and help Somalia during the 20 years and so Somalia disintegrated into the current crisis. But Britain did not bother what happened to Somalia. Instead, Britain was happy to be the passenger for Somalia issues. Many Somalis were surprised the indifferent attitudes displayed by the Britain. As the suffering of Somalia continue, its never too late for Britain to come to the rescue and stand for Somalia. With regards to the suggested agendas, I think all those topics are important and relevant. However, I would like to make clear for the conference organisers that the discussions toward the political issues are more important. The best this conference can achieve is to agree a formation of inclusive Parliament without former warlords. Put in place an agreeable benchmark for who can become parliamentarian, such as higher education.I personally hope the London conference successful and Somalia gets back its place in the world community.Musse Ali
