Nairobi (RBC) Ali Diriye Mohamud a peace maker intellectual was shot dead on Monday night by unknown assailants at his residential house in Ifo refugee camp of Dadaab, the world’s largest refugee camp in northeastern Kenya RBC Radio reports.

As residents in the town of Ifo refugee camp confirmed to Raxanreeb media network, the deceased elder was on his way to home when unknown gunmen attacked him and shot him in the head and chest with several bullets and died on the spot.

The attackers have immediately escaped from the scene and fired in the sky on their way out to avoid backlash attack and to be caught by the civilians or the police.

Kenyan police have reached at the scene and made search out operations to find out the masterminds.

No group has claimed the responsibility of the attack yet but it could be a reference to Al-shabab militias who have many times threatened that it will carry out retaliation attacks against Kenya.

Reports say that the police have tortured and beaten up some residents near the scene of the incident but did not made any arrests.

There have been series of attacks and explosions in Kenya especially the north eastern province bordered by Somalia since Kenyan troops went into Somalia about a year ago.

Earlier this month a grenade attack was killed about three children and wounded several others in a church in suburb of eastliegh residence, Nairobi. And two administration police officers were shot dead in Garissa town by unknown assailants.
