SOMALIA: Former Somalia PM contests outgoing Farole on the third round of Puntland election race

D-Garowe (RBC) Former Somalia Interim Prime Minister Abdiweli Mohamed Ali Gaas contests the outgoing Puntland president Abdurahman Farole in the regional presidential election race, RBC Radio reports.

The third round of the state presidential election race has started after nine candidates lost in the first and second rounds of the election going in Garowe, the capital of Puntland State.

Abdurahman Mohamed Farole whose term in office ended yesterday is now leading the third round of the election with 31 votes while his rival candidate has 18 votes.

According to elections procedure the candidate with the most votes in the third round of the election race will be the winner of the Puntland presidency.

The region’s 66 members of parliament are voting to elect the President and the Vice President of the region.
