SOMALIA: Elbur town falls for Somali Army and Amisom

raxanreebMogadishu (RBC) Somali National Army and the Ethiopian forces of the African Union Mission in Somalia today have taken control of Elbur town in Galgadud region, central Somalia.

According to residents, the joint forces entered the town on mid-day of today Wednesday after five days of fierce gun battle in nearby towns between the joint forces and the Al Shabab fighters.

Al Shabab fighters are reportedly vacated the town before the Ethiopian and the Somali forces entered the town.

Heavy mortar shelling is reportedly occurred on the outskirts of the town.

Somali government confirmed the liberation if the town, making the tenth city in Somalia being reclaimed from Al Shabab since the joint operation started in early of March.
