SOMALIA: Fire erupts in Berbera Port

BERBERA (RBC Radio) Heavy fire broke out at the container services terminal of Berbera Port on Sunday night in what authorities described as explosion from an acid container in the port.

According to workers and officials at the port, the explosion resulted huge ablaze which spread into other containers at the dry port.

Initial estimation reveals that dozens of containers with goods and commodities were left into ashes, causing millions of  dollars of loss.

Authorities are expected to release the official damage caused by the fire in the port.

The management of the Red Seas port has been out under the UAE-owned Dubai Ports World which won in a lease agreement of 30 years.
