Somalia: Residents Condemn Killing of Prominent Trader in Kismayo (RBC NEWS)

KISMAYO, (RBC Radio) - The residents of the port town of Kismayo, southern Somalia condemn the killing of Da’ud Dirir who was a prominent trader on Monday, RBC Radio reports.
Al Shabab’s armed militia shot dead Mr. Dirir while he came out from a mosque in Kismayo where he prayed yesterday afternoon.
Da’ud Dirir was one of Kismayo residents and owned a power supply company which operates in Kismayo.
The local residents said this killing will be dangerous because the Al Shabab rebel groups will kill every one who has different opinion.
RBC Radio has learned that Da’ud and some other local traders came back in the town nearly time as they fled the recently clashes in the town between Al Shabab and Hisbul Islam.
Sources in Kismayo told RBC Radio that senior Al Shabab officers warned Mr. Dirir to go out of the town but he rejected and later they killed him.
Al Shabab militia in Kismayo already killed many people of different idea. Famous politicians and traders were among those killed.
Some residents in the town, especially the traders, traditional elders and religious men had begun to flee from the town as they fear similar killing, un named source in Kismayo told RBC Radio.
Al Shabab militia spokesman Sheikh Hassan Ya’qub Ali had recently announced that his militias are completely prepared war against the other rival group of Hisbul Islam and accused them of wanting to devastate the Islamic administration in the region.
Kismayo, a port town of 500-km south of Mogadishu and taxes shipping which is major income for the city which each rival wants to control.
