Somalia: Bomb Explosion Kills High Commander in Las Anod Town (RBC NEWS)

LAS ANOD, (RBC Radio) A heavy explosion has killed high rank commander of Sool administration in Las Anod, the capital region of Sool, RBC Radio reports.
Two remote-controlled bombs were used in the attack that killed senior security officer, Osman Yusuf, in Somaliland and several others including civilians have been wounded, Somaliland’s security officials told.
Sources said a first explosion occurred in the centre of the town on Sunday when the commander went to investigate but the second had shaken his vehicle and killed himself.
the blast which has shaken the town also killed Five of his bodyguards. Heavy gun bullets were fired after the blast which injured many of the civilians.
Las Anod is an area that both Somaliland and the neighboring autonomous state of Puntland, lay claim since 1998 when Puntland was formed.
No one has yet claimed the responsibility for the deadly attack, which came only days after the opposition group, al-Shabab, threatened to attack Somaliland and other countries in the Horn of Africa, including Uganda and Kenya.
Somaliland officials have condemned the attack and called for an investigation.
Local residents in Las Anos told RBC Radio that the security forces have arrested many suspects for an investigation, while the town is under curfew.
