Nairobi, (RBC Radio) The United Nations warned the flow of at least three hundred thousand Somali refugees in the neighboring countries and Europe to escape the famine caused by the worst drought in the country.
A statement from UN’s Child Fund (UNICEF) has revealed that the number of Somalis who are in urgent need of food aid has doubled over the last year for up to three million eight hundred thousand people.
UNICEF said it needed seventy million dollars to avoid the closure of centers to provide food aid and medical emergency in the country but did not receive this amount, but only one-third.
Hilda Johnson, Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF, said that donor countries are concerned about the impact of war on the situation over the impact of natural disasters.
UN estimates nearly 1.1 million people have run from their homes for the sake of ongoing wars in the south-central Somalia.
